Roland Peerenboom withdraws as Managing Director of Enza Zaden

Roland Peerenboom, Managing Director of Enza Zaden, has decided, for personal reasons, to withdraw as Managing Director as per first of July.

Roland has worked for Enza Zaden for more than 11 years, first in the function as Commercial Director and during the last years as Managing Director.


The Supervisory Board and the team of Directors respect the decision of Roland Peerenboom and would like to thank him for all his efforts during the years he worked for Enza Zaden. We wish him all success for the future.


During the coming period, the Supervisory Board will address the question about succession. This process will be handled carefully and will take some time. In order to bridge the period, the Supervisory Board has appointed Ed Veltkamp, currently member of the Supervisory Board, as Delegated Commissioner as per first of July 2010. In this role, Ed Veltkamp will act as Chairman of the team of Directors and together with this team, we will secure the continuity of Enza Zaden.


CV Ed Veltkamp

Ed Veltkamp spent the first part of his career from 1966 to 1986 with the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Starting as a student in Biology, he became a professor of Applied Genetics, specializing in regulation of gene expression in plants and synthesis of specific compounds in micro-organisms. In 1986, he became R&D Director of Zaadunie, Netherlands. He was appointed Vice President Research and Technology Sandoz Seeds, Basel, Switzerland in 1990. From 1993 until 1996 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of S&G Seeds in the Netherlands (formerly Zaadunie). In 1996, Ed Veltkamp joined Unilever, and he was SVP Foods Research and Development, and also a Board member of Unilever Bestfoods. Since 2006, Ed Veltkamp is member of the Supervisory Board of Enza Zaden.
